DETROIT — The Whitney, Detroit’s iconic Woodward Avenue mansion restaurant, is introducing a unique new “Tableside Dining” service to add special appeal to the city’s fine dining community.

With a special menu, the tableside service will be offered in private rooms on the third floor of the mansion  and will include chef selected foods prepared tableside by The Whitney’s professional servers and accompanied by wines served by the restaurant’s popular  maitre d’ and sommelier, Lew Weideman.

The special four course tableside menu includes:

  • Appetizers: Smokey Shrimp Cocktail and Oysters on the Half Shell, Oyster Stew, or Bronzed Tenderloin Tips over Panko Encrusted Chevre
  • Salads: a choice of The Whitney Chop or Classic Caesar
  • Entrees: Sherried Lobster Newberg with Asparagus Tips and Tomato Concasse, Medallions of Tenderloin Maytag Bleu, Swordfish ala Whitney, Chicken Oscar, Veal Piccata, and a Vegetarian Crepe Duet
  • Desserts: Flaming Bananas Foster or Crepe Suzette

Tableside dining guests will also be offered The Whitney’s “Splurges to Share” – a Seafood Tower with King Crab, Cocktail Shrimp, Raw and Baked Oysters, Twin Lobster Tails, and Flaming Sambuca Shrimp or a Caviar Tasting.

“The Whitney is the logical venue to bring this ultra dining experience to Detroit,” said The Whitney’s executive chef, Jason Gardner. “We’re offering the highest quality foods, prepared tableside, with world-class service in an authentically one-of-a-kind Detroit setting. We don’t think anybody can match the combination we have to offer.”

Tableside service will begin Friday, February 15 by reservation only and can be ordered ala carte or prix fixe for $100. Sommelier selected beverage flight can be added for an additional cost.
