#01. Daniel F. Akerson Chairman and CEO
Akerson became chairman of General Motors in January 2011, after serving as CEO since September 2010. Under his leadership, GM has taken critical steps to transform itself by launching a $23 billion IPO (the largest in history), establishing consistent profitability, gaining market share, improving product quality, investing in manufacturing and job creation, and generating impressive global growth. GM today has an extensive lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles, including the Chevrolet Cruze Eco and the Buick LaCrosse with eAssist technology. Before joining GM, Akerson was a managing director of The Carlyle Group and the head of global buyout, based in Washington, D.C. He joined the GM board of directors in July 2009. From 1983 to 1993, Akerson served in several key roles at MCI Communications Corp., including executive vice president, CFO, and COO. In 1993, Akerson became a general partner of private equity firm Forstmann Little & Co. and chairman and CEO of General Instrument Co., where he developed and deployed the first digital video, satellite, and cable systems domestically and internationally.
#02. Stephen J. Girsky
Vice Chairman; President, GM Europe-Interim; Chairman, Opel Supervisory Bd.
Girsky has overall responsibility for corporate strategy, business alliances, new business development, and other related areas. He has served on the General Motors board of directors since July 2009, and was senior adviser to the Office of the Chairman before being named vice chairman. Girsky became chairman of the Adam Opel AG supervisory board in November 2011 and was named interim head of GM’s European operations as president of GM Europe in July 2012. Before coming to GM, Girsky was president of S.J. Girsky & Co., an independent advisory firm based in New York, where he worked with senior corporate and board executives, labor leaders, OEM leaders, suppliers, dealers, and national and local policymakers. He also served as the lead director of Dana Holdings Corp. and as president of Centerbridge Industrial Partners, an affiliate of Centerbridge Partners LP, an investment fund with approximately $8 billion of assets under management. Girsky was special adviser to the CEO and CFO of General Motors Corp. from August 2005 to June 2006. He was also managing director at Morgan Stanley.
#03. Daniel Ammann
Senior Vice President; Chief Financial Officer
Ammann leads GM’s global financial and accounting operations and has responsibility for GM’s captive financing business at GM Financial. He previously served as vice president, finance and treasurer. Before joining GM, the New Zealand native was managing director and head of industrial investment banking for Morgan Stanley, and spent five years at Credit Suisse in New York and New Zealand.
#04. Mary T. Barra
Senior Vice President; Global Product Development
Barra is responsible for the design, engineering, program management, and quality of GM’s worldwide vehicle portfolio. She is a member of the Executive Operations Committee and serves on the Adam Opel AG supervisory board. Previously, Barra was vice president, global human resources; vice president, global manufacturing engineering; and served as plant manager at Detroit Hamtramck Assembly.
#05. Michael P. Milliken
Senior Vice President; General Counsel
Milliken is a member of the board of directors of GM Korea, formerly GM Daewoo Auto and Technology Co., and a member of the supervisory board of GM’s German subsidiary, Adam Opel AG. He also served as vice president and general counsel of GM International Operations, was a member of the GMIO strategy board, and was vice president and general counsel of General Motors Europe.
#06. Selim Bingol
Vice President; Global Communications and Public Policy
In October 2012, Bingol assumed the federal, state, and international government relations and public policy activities of Robert E. Ferguson, who was named GM’s vice president, global Cadillac. Bingol will continue to be responsible for General Motors’ global communications activities, including products and brands, corporate, public policy, executive support, and all internal communications.
#07. Cynthia J. Brinkley
Vice President; Global Human Resources
Brinkley leads global human resources and corporate diversity strategies to drive business results and to support GM’s 210,000 employees worldwide. She joined GM from AT&T, where she was senior vice president, talent development, and chief diversity officer, responsible for identifying and developing future leaders, handling company training, and building employee engagement and diversity.
#08. Nick S. Cyprus
Vice President; Chief Accounting Officer and Controller
Cyprus’ responsibilities include reporting financial results to the CEO, CFO, and Audit Committee of the board, and leadership and oversight of shared services functions for GM worldwide, including inventory fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable, billing, and receivables. He also oversees external reporting and the development of accounting policies and consolidations process.
#09. James A. Davlin
Vice President; Finance and Treasurer
Davlin is responsible for the automaker’s global treasury operations, including capital planning, capital market activities, worldwide banking, and pension funding. Davlin is also involved in business development, risk management, and investor relations. Davlin joined General Motors from Deere & Co., where he had served as the company’s vice president, corporate strategy and business development.
#10. Robert E. Ferguson
Vice President; Global Cadillac
Ferguson was appointed to this newly created position in October 2012. He is responsible for marketing, brand management, and advertising for Cadillac in markets around the world. He reports directly to CEO Dan Akerson. Ferguson is expected to take on responsibility for global Cadillac sales in 2013. Ferguson joined GM in 2010 and most recently was vice president for global public policy.
#11. Timothy E. Lee
Vice President; Global Manufacturing; President, General Motors International Operations
Lee assumed the global manufacturing role in October 2012. Based in Shanghai, he is responsible for GM’s worldwide manufacturing operations. Lee retains the position of president of GMIO with oversight of operations in Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as Chevrolet Europe.
#12. Randall D. Mott
Vice President; Chief Information Officer
Before coming to GM in February 2012, Mott was executive vice president and chief information officer of Hewlett-Packard, where he was responsible for the company’s global information technology strategy and all of its IT assets. This included company-wide application development, data management, technology infrastructure, data center operations, and telecommunication networks worldwide.
#13. Mark L. Reuss
Vice President; President, North America
Reuss is responsible for GM’s performance, manufacturing, portfolio, and dealer network in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Reuss has served as vice president of engineering, managed GM’s operations in Australia and New Zealand, and was a member of the GM Asia Pacific Strategy Board. He is a licensed Grand-Am Road Racing driver. He began his career at GM in 1983.
#14. Anne T. Larin
Corporate Secretary
Since joining GM’s legal staff in 1990, Larin has held a variety of positions, including lead attorney for Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and secretary to the GM Board of Directors Audit Committee. Previously, she worked at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, a law firm in Los Angeles that specializes in bankruptcy, employment, litigation, real estate, and tax cases. She also worked for Judge Cornelia Kennedy on the U.S. Court of Appeals.
#15. Victoria McInnis
Chief Tax Officer
McInnis is responsible for GM’s global tax and customs functions. She joined GM in Canada in 1995 and has held various positions in the tax staff, including spending four years in Zurich, Switzerland, overseeing GM’s European tax group. McInnis most recently served as executive director of the global tax counsel group. Before joining GM, McInnis was at the Canadian law firm McCarthy Tetrault. She holds a JD degree, an MBA, and a BA in finance.
#16. Brian D. Thelen
General Auditor and Chief Risk Officer
Thelen previously served as vice president of audit services for Delphi Automotive and was a member of the Delphi Strategy Board from 2005 until joining GM in August 2011. He began his business career in 1986 at the Chicago office of Ernst & Young, working in the tax and audit practices. In 1990, Thelen joined American Standard Companies Inc. as controller/CFO of the Chicago district.
#17. Jaime Ardila
President; President, South America
Ardila is responsible for GM’s operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela, and is a member of GM’s Executive Committee. He served as president and managing director of GM Mercosur, president of GM Ecuador, president of General Motors Colmotores in Colombia, and president and managing director of GM Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
#18. Walter G. Borst
President; Chairman, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer, GM Investment Management Corp.
Borst is responsible for approximately $110 billion in assets managed by GMIMCo and its affiliates, predominantly for the GM benefit plans. He is responsible forthe implementation of the firm’s investment process and its overall business strategy. Borst was vice president and treasurer, and led the GM Treasurer’s Office.
#19. James Bovenzi
President; Managing Director, GM Russia
Bovenzi is in charge of General Motors’ operations in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Previously, he served as vice president, global purchasing and supply chain for General Motors International Operations. He also held various positions at Saturn and, in 1997, was appointed Saturn vice president of purchasing and supplier quality. Bovenzi began his GM career in 1977.
#20. Mary Chan
President; OnStar; Vice President, Global Connected Consumer
Chan was appointed to this newly created position in May 2012. She reports to GM Vice Chairman Stephen Girsky and has responsibility over the recently formed global infotainment business unit, as well as OnStar’s global business operations. Chan joined General Motors from Dell Inc., where she was senior vice president and general manager of Enterprise Mobility Solutions & Services since 2009.
#21. Susan E. Docherty
President; Managing Director, Chevrolet Europe
Appointed in January 2012, Docherty is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and is responsible for the growth of Chevrolet and Cadillac across Western and Central Europe. She is also a member of the GM Korea board of directors. Previously, as GM vice president, International Operations Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales since May 2010, she oversaw the growth of GM’s brands across the region.
#22. Ernesto Hernandez
President; Managing Director, General Motors de Mexico
In June 2011, Hernandez became the first Mexican to serve in this position. Prior to that, he was the GM de Mexico vice president and executive director for vehicle sales, service, and marketing, responsible for the commercial operations in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Hernandez began his career with General Motors in 1980, in product engineering.
#23. Grace D. Lieblein
President; Managing Director, General Motors do Brasil
Lieblein had been the president and managing director of General Motors de Mexico — the first woman to serve in that role — since December 2009. Before that she was the global vehicle chief engineer, front-wheel-drive trucks. Lieblein began her career in 1978 as a GM co-op student in Los Angeles, and worked at the GM Assembly Division, Oldsmobile, and at GM’s Arizona Proving Ground.
#24. Lowell C. Paddock
President; Managing Director, GM India
Effective in January 2012, Paddock succeeded Karl Slym, who joined India’s Tata Motors. Paddock is based at GM India’s headquarters in Gurgaon, and is responsible for the company’s operations across India, including its manufacturing facilities in Halol, Gujarat, and Talegaon, as well as its joint venture with Chinese automaker SAIC. He serves on the boards of the GM-AvtoVAZ joint venture and GM Korea.
#25. Sergio Rocha
President; CEO, GM Korea
Effective in March 2012, Rocha, the former president and managing director of GM Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, succeeded John Buttermore, who had held the Korea position. Rocha has extensive experience in product engineering, planning, manufacturing, and management in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. He began his career in product engineering at GM do Brazil in 1979.
#26. Bob Socia
President; GM China, Chief Country Operations Officer, China, India, and ASEAN
Effective in October 2012, Socia succeeded Kevin Wale, who retired. Socia had been vice president, global purchasing and supply chain. He joined the automaker’s Cadillac Division in 1975. After serving in several senior positions in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, In 2004, he was appointed president and managing director of GM South Africa.
#27. Kevin W. Williams
President; Managing Director, GM of Canada Ltd.
Williams has overall responsibility for GM’s operations in Canada. He had been vice president and general manager, Service and Parts Operations, since 2008. Before that, Williams served as president, managing director, assistant managing director, and manufacturing manager of GM de Mexico. In 2010, he was honored for his leadership in workplace diversity.
#28. Raymond Bierzynski
Executive Vice President; SAIC-GM-Wuling
Effective in October 2012, Bierzynski is based at SAIC-GM-Wuling’s headquarters in Liuzhou, Guangxi. He had served as executive director of electrification strategy at GM China, where he was responsible for coordinating and accelerating the commercialization of electrification technologies in the world’s largest vehicle market.
#29. Mark Barnes
Vice President; Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales, GM International Operations
Barnes was appointed in May 2012 and is based at GMIO headquarters in Shanghai. Barnes most recently served as vice president of customer experience at Volkswagen of America. He also served as COO of Volkswagen of America, director of Chrysler’s U.S. western region business center, and vice president of national sales at Hyundai North America.
#30. Alan Batey
Vice President; U.S. Sales and Service
Batey was promoted to his new position in May 2012. He is responsible for improving customer satisfaction, dealer profitability, and resale value. Batey began his GM career in 1979 as a mechanical engineering apprentice for Vauxhall in the United Kingdom. He has held senior management positions in the U.K., Korea, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.
#31. Alicia Boler-Davis
Vice President; Global Quality and U.S. Customer Experience
Effective in June 2012, Boler-Davis assumed responsibility for GM’s global quality activities from Terry Woychowski, who retired. Boler-Davis had been vice president, U.S. customer experience, since February 2012. She has served as manager of the Orion Assembly and Pontiac stamping plants. She began her career with GM in 1994, and has served in various leadership positions.
#32. John R. Buttermore
Vice President; Manufacturing and Labor, International Operations; Vice President, ASEAN and Africa Operations
Buttermore joined GM in 1978. After assignments in manufacturing engineering and plant management, he was named manufacturing manager for GM’s U.S. engine plants in 1996, manufacturing manager for assembly plants in 2000, and named vice president, North American labor relations, in 2002.
#33. John Calabrese
Vice President; Global Vehicle Engineering
Calabrese is responsible for the engineering of GM vehicles around the world. He had served as executive director and global functional leader for body, exterior, dimensional, interior, safety, HVAC, and powertrain cooling engineering, in addition to operations at the Toluca, Mexico, regional engineering center. He serves on the board of the Shanghai GM and the Pan-Asia Technical Automotive Center joint ventures.
#34. Stephen K. Carlisle
Vice President; Global Planning and Program Management
Carlisle had been GM vice president, U.S. Sales Operations, and was responsible for GM’s dealer network, retail sales support, and fleet and commercial operations. He recently returned to the United States from Thailand, where he was executive director, GM South East Asia Operations, and president and managing director, GM Thailand.
#35. Cathy Clegg
Vice President; Labor Relations
Clegg has worked as a manufacturing engineer, a plant manager, and a manufacturing manager responsible for several assembly, stamping, and powertrain plants. In 2005 and 2010, she was recognized by Automotive News as one of the 100 leading women in the auto industry. Clegg received a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing technology from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
#36. Stephen Hill
Vice President; Customer Care and Aftersales
Hill had been the general sales manager for the Premium Channel (Cadillac-Hummer-Saab). He began his GM career in 1983 at Cadillac Motor Car Division as a district service manager, and moved on to numerous sales and marketing positions within GM. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University and an MBA from Wayne State University.
#37. Donald R. Johnson
Vice President; Chevrolet Sales and Service
Johnson was appointed to his new position in June 2012 and is responsible for Chevrolet’s 3,100 dealers. Previously, he oversaw GM’s dealer network, retail sales support, and fleet and commercial operations. He also served as vice president of sales, marketing, and aftersales for GM International Operations in China. He replaced Alan Batey, who was promoted to VP.
#38. Jonathan J. Lauckner
Vice President; Global Research & Development ; Chief Technology Officer; President, General Motors Ventures, LLC
Lauckner was named to the CTO and R&D positions in April 2012, replacing Alan Taub, who retired. Lauckner retains the title of president, GM Ventures, the subsidiary formed in 2010 to make equity investments in startup companies that are developing next-generation automotive technology.
#39. Chris Perry
Vice President; Global Marketing
Perry is responsible for managing the global marketing strategy for Chevrolet and improving consideration for the brand’s revamped product lineup in North America. He had served as vice president, U.S. marketing and Chevrolet marketing. Prior to joining GM, Perry was vice president, marketing and communications, at Hyundai Motor America. He also spent nearly 10 years at American Isuzu Motors.
#40. Eric Peterson
Vice President; Corporate Diversity
Appointed in January 2012, Peterson is developing and executing GM’s strategy of diversity and inclusion throughout the company. Prior to this, his job was to strengthen GM’s vow to diversity with customers, employees, and suppliers. He has also overseen GM’s relationships with the National Dealer Council, Minority Dealer Advisory Council, Women’s Dealer Advisory Council, and the National Automobile Dealers Association.
#41. Michael J. Robinson
Vice President; Sustainability and Global Regulatory Affairs
Robinson leads GM’s initiatives to integrate sustainability into its operations and products, and has responsibility for the company’s sustainability reporting. He leads GM’s global environment, energy, and vehicle safety policy activities, including advocacy efforts with governments and key stakeholders. He splits his time between Detroit and Washington, D.C.
#42. Thomas Sedran
Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Adam Opel AG.
Sedran was appointed in July 2012 as interim head of GM’s Opel and Vauxhall units. He assumes this responsibility in addition to his role as Adam Opel board member in charge of operations, business development, and corporate strategies, which he has held since April 2012. Sedran succeeds Karl-Friedrich Stracke, who left the post in July to take on special assignments.
#43. Eric R. Stevens
Vice President; Global Manufacturing Engineering
Stevens oversees all global vehicle manufacturing engineering operations, including body, press, assembly, controls, paint, powertrain, global program management, and real estate/facilities. Previously he was vice president, manufacturing at GM Europe, where he was responsible for all vehicle manufacturing and assembly plants. He joined GM’s Canadian headquarters in 1978.
#44. Diana Tremblay
Vice President; North American Manufacturing
Tremblay manages a team of approximately 55,000 employees and has responsibility for 58 facilities in North America that include assembly, stamping, powertrain, and component operations. She was named vice president, manufacturing and labor relations, in December 2009. Previously, she served as GM North America vice president of labor relations beginning in January 2006.
#45. Edward T. Welburn Jr.
Vice President; Global Design
Welburn is only the sixth design leader in General Motors history, and he is the first to lead all of the company’s 10 design centers in eight countries. Welburn and his team of 1,800 — including 900 in metro Detroit — are responsible for the design of every GM concept and production car and truck globally. Welburn graduated from Howard University and started at GM studios in 1972.
