Detroit’s DTE Energy Seeks Solar Energy Expertise

2305

DETROIT, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — DTE Energy today issued a Request for Proposal to identify qualified companies to work with DTE Energy on large-scale solar energy installations.

DTE Energy plans to install several photovoltaic solar systems totaling up to 12 megawatts over the next four years at locations throughout the company’s Southeast Michigan service area. Detroit Edison will own and operate the solar energy systems, which will be ground-mounted or on rooftops of commercial, industrial or DTE Energy buildings.

The company is seeking respondents who have significant experience in the engineering, development and installation of 150-kilowatt and larger solar energy systems.

The electricity produced from the proposed solar energy installations will help DTE Energy achieve Michigan’s Renewable Portfolio Standard, which calls for 10 percent of a utility’s retail electric sales to come from renewable resources by 2015. DTE Energy currently has contracts to generate nearly 4 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources.

Respondents must register on the PowerAdvocate web site, www.poweradvocate.com, to submit a bid. Any questions about this RFP should be submitted to renewsuppliers@dteenergy.com. Responses are due by noon April 1, 2011.
