DETROIT, December 23, 2009 – EyesOn Design celebrates 23 years recognizing major design achievements in the automotive industry and raising money for The Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. To celebrate the theme of Evolution of Automotive Design, EyesOn Design is honored to have Mr. Bill Warner (founder of Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance) as the Honorary Chair for the summer series of events. In addition, Mr. Warner will also be a docent to this year’s judges’ panel for the EyesOn Design Awards at NAIAS media week.

EyesOn Design Awards at NAIAS for Design Excellence recognize the skill and creativity of today’s most gifted designers in the areas of Aesthetics and Innovation, Concept Implementation, Functionality, and Spirit of Industrial Design.  They also serve as a brand extension of the DIO’s annual EyesOn Design Automotive Design Show held each June to honor and celebrate the past, present, and future of automotive design.

The upcoming EyesOn Design Excellence Awards, recognizing the most significant automotive designs on display at NAIAS 2010, kick off the new decade for EyesOn Design.  The two highly-anticipated Design Awards include EyesOn Design Award for Concept Vehicle Design Excellence and EyesOn Design Award for Production Vehicle Design Excellence. The Awards will be announced and presented at the 2010 NAIAS, Detroit, held at Cobo Center on Jan. 12.

Eyes On Design Summer Events

As a prelude to our Summer events, the Eve of Eyes Designers Night fundraiser in May will bring together designers, engineers, and automotive enthusiasts to socialize and network to benefit The Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology’s charitable mission.
This summer EyesOn Design will honor this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Design Achievement Award winner at Vision Honored as one of 2010 Summer events. This special event celebration will present the award for Lifetime Design Achievement to an accomplished automotive designer selected by previous winners of this very prestigious award. The annual Automotive Design Show will take place on Father’s Day, June 20, 2010, at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe, Mich.

EyesOn Design associated events provide support and raise awareness for aid and research to the visually impaired through the work of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, which is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to move forward the day when blind people recover some level of vision, and function independently.
