2099

Novi, Mich., January 14, 2009 – JPRA Architects’ new office building in Novi, Michigan has been awarded LEED® Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is the USGBC’s leading rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy-efficient, and highest performing buildings.

The office, having the distinction of being Novi’s first LEED-certified new construction, is situated on 2.32 acres of the 12-acre Campus Tech Park in Novi which includes five acres of wetlands and conservation area. “We are very proud of our recent LEED Certification. We felt it necessary to practice what we preach and reflect that in the design and construction of our new office building,” said James Grigsby, Chairman and CEO of JPRA Architects.

JPRA Architects’ new office building was designed by the firm’s principals to achieve LEED certification for energy use, stormwater management, water-efficient landscaping, day lighting, and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. Low VOC interior materials were used throughout in combination with a high-efficiency HVAC system that maintains healthy levels of outside air and CO2.

“With each new LEED-certified building, we get one step closer to USGBC’s vision of a sustainable built environment within a generation,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “As the newest member of the LEED family of green buildings, JPRA Architects is an important addition to the growing strength of the green building movement.”
