Southfield, Mich., January 26, 2009 — As the automotive industry continues to struggle, more engineers and technical professionals are looking for ways to transfer their skills to new industries. On Wednesday, January 28, 2009, The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) is bringing together various industries eager to hire professionals with engineering and technical backgrounds. Laid off workers and those interested in seeking new opportunities are invited to attend.

High-profile presenters from various Michigan companies, including DTE Energy, DASI Solutions, HNTB Corporation, the FBI and the U.S. Census Bureau along with major universities such as Wayne State University, Oakland University, Walsh College, University of Detroit Mercy, and many more will be on-hand to inform attendees on what it would take to make a transition; what skills/training are required; what job titles to look for; what is the salary range; and where to find important resources.

As more workers face the threat of layoffs, this program will present an opportunity for them to learn how they can transfer their skills and experience to new career opportunities.

Registration starts at 7:00 a.m. Program begins at 8:00 a.m. Cost to attend is $30 for ESD members; $35 for nonmembers. To register, visit www.esd.org. For more information, call Della Cassia at 248-353-0735, ext. 112.
