Building Industry Association Announces 2009 Executive Committee

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., January 27, 2008 – Building Industry Association of Southeastern Michigan (BIA) has announced its 2009 Executive Committee. BIA’s new president is Darshan S. Grewal, Singh Development, L.L.C., West Bloomfield. He and the other Executive Committee members will take the oath of office as part of BIA’s Economic Forecast Luncheon on Tuesday, January 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Best Western Sterling Inn in Sterling Heights.

In addition to Mr. Grewal, the Executive Committee includes Richard Kligman, Superb Custom Homes, Plymouth, moving into the position of secretary, Richard Ives, Trinity Land Development., Clinton Township, as immediate past president and Norm Finkelstein, Norwood Homes, LTD, Farmington Hills, as vice president.

Continuing in their positions are Adorno Piccinini, Adco Group, Novi, as treasurer, James S. Bonadeo, Bonadeo Builders, Plymouth, as president emeritus; Richard Komer, Wineman & Komer, Southfield, as first vice president; and vice presidents Paul Aragona, Aragona Properties, Clinton Township, Michael Moceri, Leader Homes, Inc., Novi, and Sam Palazzolo, Palazzolo Brothers Construction Co., Sterling Heights. BIA’s Executive Officer, Michael C. Stoskopf, CGP, also serves on the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee is responsible for furthering the building industry’s relationship with municipal and county governments and providing representation in the state and national associations.

Additionally, the Committee assists in overseeing BIA’s mission to provide education, information, programs, networking, political action and all other activities that advance the building industry, while making the American dream of home ownership a reality for Michigan families.

In addition to the swearing in ceremony, the Economic Forecast Luncheon, Michigan Moving Forward, will feature guest speakers David Crowe, Chief Economist for the National Association of Home Builders in Washington, D.C.; Robert A. Ficano, Wayne County Executive; and Dennis W. Archer, former Mayor of Detroit and Chairman of Dickinson Wright, PLLC. The speakers will address topics pertinent to those involved in the residential and light construction industries including:

• What can we expect during 2009?
• What new companies are locating in Michigan?
• Potential economic stimulus for our area
• The vision for moving Michigan into the future.

Registration fees are $40 for BIA or Apartment Association of Michigan members with advance reservations made by January 21, 2009; $60 for members at the door, and $75 for guests.
