Reception for Governor General of Canada at the Detroit Institute of Arts

Highlighting the importance of enhanced cooperation between the United States and Canada, the Governor General of Canada David Johnston spoke at the Detroit Institute of Arts on April 29. He discussed the collaboration between public and private sectors that prevented the DIA’s collection from being sold during Detroit’s bankruptcy proceedings, as well as the role played by the DIA in championing the importance of the arts. Governor General Johnston was appointed to the position by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010 and serves as the queen’s representative in Canada.
