2015 Jolly Pumpkin Media Preview Event

The Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery located in Detroit's Midtown district will open to the public next month. The 5,000 square feet space is filled with large picnic tables for communal dining. The menu features gourmet pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and burgers, along with a full bar with more than 30 taps.

Life Remodeled 2018 Six Day Project at the Durfee Innovation Society

Life Remodeled, a Detroit nonprofit that invests about $5 million in cash, labor, and materials in one Detroit neighborhood each year, invested in the Durfee Innovation Society for its 2018 Six Day Project in early October. Life Remodeled leased the formerly unused Durfee Elementary-Middle School and re-purposed the building into a community innovation center that offers space for nonprofit organizations and businesses to co-locate, share resources, and achieve greater community impact. About 10,000 volunteers worked on the space and surrounding neighborhood during the six-day project.

Oktoberfest Fundraiser at Birmingham Country Club

First American Title Insurance Co., PM Environmental, Integra, and PEA Inc. hosted an Oktoberfest Gathering on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Birmingham Country Club. More than 100 guests enjoyed networking, drinks, and appetizers. A 50/50 raffle was held to support St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen in Detroit.

Eighth Annual Wine and Dine in the D

The Cure Multiple Myeloma Corp. hosted its eighth annual Wine and Dine in the D on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. The evening included a roundtable discussion; food and wine from more than 20 restaurants, wineries, and breweries; live entertainment, a silent auction; and an afterglow with desserts. Proceeds benefited the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, which is committed to accelerating treatment development for multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer.

Ghafari Associates TechConnect Open House

Ghafari Associates, an architecture, engineering, process design, consulting, and construction firm, celebrated 36 years in business through a TechConnect open house for its clients, collaborators, and nonprofit partners on Sept. 27 at its Dearborn headquarters. Guests enjoyed drone flight demos, experienced virtual and augmented reality, and saw 3-D prototyping in action.

Tough Enough to be a Girl Scout Breakfast

Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan hosted its inaugural Tough Enough Breakfast on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit. The event honored four women and one man who are leaders in the business community and whose values and ideals align with Girl Scouts’ mission. More than 160 attendees enjoyed breakfast and networking. The event raised more than $40,000 that will go toward programming and leadership development for older girls.
