March Homebuilding Activity Drives Permits to Highest First Quarter Since 2006

Based on residential permit data compiled by the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan (HBA) in Farmington Hills, a total of 1,163 home permits were issued in Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, and Wayne counties in the first quarter. The amount marks the highest first quarter start for new home permits in the four-county area since 2006, which was 1,771.

Paul McCartney and Men’s College Basketball Doubleheader Announced for Little Caesars Arena

Olympia Entertainment today announced Paul McCartney will perform at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Oct. 1, while a men’s NCAA basketball doubleheader featuring the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Oakland University, and the University of Detroit Mercy will be held on Dec. 16. The initial matchup will be between U-M versus UDM followed by Michigan State versus Oakland.

Founders Brewing Co. to Open Taproom in Detroit’s Midtown

Grand Rapids-based Founders Brewing Co. today announced it will open a new 14,000-square-foot taproom with a fully operational brewery in Midtown Detroit. The building is located at 456 Charlotte St. and construction will begin this summer, with a grand opening scheduled for the end of this year.

Michigan Future Report Calls for State Government to Increase Household Incomes

Michigan Future, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that works to provide economic solutions, today released its first policy recommendations, calling for state legislators to make increasing household income for all Michigan residents the explicit goal of state economic policy.

Business Groups Partner on Michigan Defense Exposition April 26-27

The Michigan chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association today announced the details of the Michigan Defense Exposition, a military promotion and networking event running through April 27. The eighth annual event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4p.m. at the Macomb Community College Expo Center and will feature representatives from the U.S. Army TACOM, TARDEC, ACC, and 13 Israeli companies.
