For the award-winning designers of Extraordinary Works, creating your one-of-a-kind kitchen is all that matters. Extraordinary Works (EW) recently captured first place in the kitchen design competition conducted by the Michigan chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). It isn’t the first time this team of specialty designers has earned the accolades of professional colleagues, and it certainly won’t be the last. But the person that EW designers most want to impress is their next client.

With two locations — one at the Michigan Design Center, in Troy, and a second location in Wixom near Twelve Oaks Mall — Extraordinary Works has made the process of choosing elements for your perfect kitchen that much easier. From reliable kitchen appliances to the finer touches, including countertops, flooring, lighting, hardware, and even custom furniture, EW has everything the discriminating homeowner could desire.

Since the word in home design these days is “green,” EW has just completed an impressive display of Saxton Cabinetry in its Michigan Design Center Showroom. Saxton Cabinetry, a contemporary complement to Quality Custom Cabinetry, is designed to satisfy clients who are just as concerned about attention to detail, fit and finish, and meticulous craftsmanship as they are about maintaining environmental balance and getting extraordinary value.

Saxton’s three-quarter-inch composite core is made from 100-percent recycled materials, and is constructed without adding urea formaldehyde. Saxton Cabinetry offers more than 60 door styles, which are available in a range of responsibly harvested veneers and eco-friendly foils that can be mixed, matched, and blended to complement any decor. The Opus collection, which has been heralded as extraordinary, is crafted from select exotic veneers including zebrawood, anegre, bamboo, birdseye maple and wenge. The Legacy collection features 22 solid wood styles.

By recycling and reducing the use of raw materials, American-made Saxton Cabinetry has received the industry’s highest award for environmental stewardship, and supports groups that are on the forefront of sustainable forestry practices. Quality Custom Cabinetry is also a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the author of the LEED standards, and is a Cornerstone Partner with the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Robert Zebrowski, CKD, one of the team of creative-thinking kitchen designers on staff at Extraordinary Works, knows that the first rule in kitchen design is that your kitchen should fit your lifestyle and reflect your personality. With the extensive collections available from Quality Custom Cabinetry and Saxton, as well as access to
other popular brands, including Mouser Custom Cabinetry and Irpinia Kitchens, it’s easy to express your style at EW. “If you’re building or remodeling your home in Michigan, why wouldn’t you want to use the finest collection of showrooms and products available in the state?” Zebrowski asks. “Those showrooms are all under one roof at the Michigan Design Center.”

Extraordinary Works welcomes anyone — with or without a designer — to its showroom, and would be happy to facilitate your shopping experience.

From its beginning in 1947 as a Formica laminate distributor, EW has grown into a fullservice kitchen planner, designer, and distributor. While EW caters to the luxury buyer, it’s mindful that luxury isn’t all about the price tag — it’s about the experience. A well-designed, finely crafted kitchen doesn’t have to break the bank. The professionals at Extraordinary Works will help you establish a realistic budget for your project, and assist you in shopping accordingly.

Extraordinary Works also provides an online design resource which includes inspirational photo galleries and numerous helpful planning guides. Whatever your budget, EW will design your kitchen with you and your specific needs in mind. Visit either Extraordinary Works showroom, and discover how your kitchen can become a functional work of art.
