DETROIT — Detroit PAL, a local nonprofit that organizes mentorship programs and recreational, children’s sports teams around the city, has appointed four new members to its board: Jordan Field, the president of the Detroit Tigers Foundation, Matthew Barribeau, the vice president of Michigan Market Unit at Coca-Cola Refreshments, Paul Venn, the president of Team Detroit, and April Diez, the vice chair of Diez Group.
Field directs all activities of the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities that has donated over $14 million in grants, college scholarships, Tigers game tickets, and Comerica Park luxury suites since its establishment in 2005. Field has been involved with various other baseball related charities and served as a member of Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities project in 2004. Field is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program, and is currently a member of the State Bar of Michigan. In 2012, Field was named one of DBusiness Magazine’s “30 in their Thirties.”
Barribeau currently serves as the Michigan Market Unit vice president for Coca-Cola Refreshments. Barribeau previously served as a member of both the Grand Rapids and Detroit Association of Grocery Manufacturers’ Representatives, and was a board member for the POWERADE Soccer Invitational in Livingston County.
Venn, president of Team Detroit is responsible for all global aspects of Team Detroit’s business with Ford, and has worked closely with the Ford for nearly 20 years. Most recently, Venn led WPP Group’s Global Ford Client Services Team. Team Detroit currently provides pro bono marketing support to Detroit PAL. Their latest project for PAL was a redesign and build of the nonprofit’s new website.
Diez serves as vice chair of the Diez Group, and is also president of J.I.T Steel. Diez is also the vice chair of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of the organization’s executive board and board of directors. Additionally, Diez serves on the board of directors of the Michigan Hispanic Fund and has a long personal history of mentorship and fundraising for Hispanic children.
