PayMore, an electronics buy, sell, and trade franchise based in New York, has announced its entrance into Michigan with a 25-unit deal to establish a presence within the Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Kalamazoo areas. Exact locations were not provided.

The company states it has closed 13 deals in 2023 with more than 120 units in development across Texas, New York, Maryland, California, New York, Washington, Florida, and now, Michigan. PayMore opened eight new stores within the past eight months, bringing its footprint to 14 locations, with nine additional stores set to open this year.

The Michigan franchisee is Volt Resale, a collaborative entity from leaders of Kava Restaurants, a Tim Hortons and Cold Stone Creamery franchisee, and principals of the Dillon Kane Group (DKG), a Chicago based investment firm.

Volt Resale’s leadership team is comprised of Tom Reedy, Steve Williams, Tony Pervan, Larry Neems, and Bobby Reedy, who together have experience in technology, finance, consulting, and marketing.

“After searching for two years for our next franchise concept, we were thrilled to discover the PayMore brand,” says Bobby Reedy, director of finance and strategy at Volt Resale. “We were actively seeking out an opportunity to diversify our organization with partners who are laser focused on sustainable growth and incredible profit potential — supported by an exceptional operations team with technological expertise to match.

“The leaders at PayMore understand what is necessary to scale nationwide and we are confident our unique operating team will be the perfect partners to achieve our shared goals in Michigan.”

With $650 billion worth of unused tech in U.S. homes, Volt Resale recognized the potential for growth in the electronics buy, sell, and trade sector.

Tom Reedy is a senior managing partner at DKG, in addition to serving as CEO of Kava Restaurants and Volt Resale. His experience as an auditor for McDonald’s led to a lifelong passion for the franchise industry. Partnering with Williams in 2017, they founded Kava Restaurants, which was at one time the largest franchisee of Tim Hortons globally.

Williams serves as COO of Kava and has a background in operations, serving in key leadership roles spanning multiple decades at Einstein Bros. Bagels, Boston Market, and Jamba Juice.

PayMore is both an e-commerce and brick and mortar electronics resale shop offering consumers late generation smartphones, gaming systems, tablets, and other tech gadgets. By providing customers with a safe and green way to buy, sell, and trade electronics, PayMore is attracting several types of current multi-unit franchisees, including uBreakiFix, Domino’s, GNC, and Firehouse Subs owners seeking to diversify their portfolios.

Working in partnership with Fransmart, a leader in franchise development for emerging brands, PayMore stores offer low start-up costs and low operating costs. The business offers the ability to capture customers in all stages of the buying cycle by giving them the option to trade in older models, shop for new releases, or purchase a lightly used upgrade.

The company was recently named to Franchise Dictionary Magazine’s top 100 Game Changers, an award which recognizes brands that impact veterans, serve their community, create an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, fill a niche, and are favored by the millennial audience.

PayMore is actively seeking franchisees for other prime territories nationwide. The company was founded in 2011 in Massapequa, N.Y., to obtain and repurpose old electronics and recirculate them back into the marketplace instead of having them pile up in landfills.
