CHELSEA — The Chelsea Community Foundation granted $60,00 to nonprofit organizations around the Chelsea area in 2014.
“We expected a good show of support because Chelsea residents are generous and charitable,” says Peter Feeney, chair of the Chelsea Community Foundation advisory committee.
The Chelsea School District received $28,570 to create a community center and public banners to promote the school’s visual arts program.
Silver Maples of Chelsea Inc., a retirement community, was given $7,111. The grant will support a music problem for those experiencing dementia and Alzheimer’s. An additional $10,000 grant will provide an iPad library and classes for the community.
The Purple Rose Theatre Co. received a grant of $18,000 for the development of five new locations in southeast Michigan.
