Film Extras In Michigan

I’m sure it’s no surprise to you by now that the film industry in Michigan is on the rise. You’ve heard all about the film tax incentives that were established to create more jobs in Michigan. You’ve also probably heard about the various film industry training programs around town trying to educate our workers in order to develop and sustain the Michigan film industry.

And while films are adding valuable employment opportunities for crewmembers, they are also creating opportunities for actors that are now securing roles in front of the camera. Michigan talent has landed principle roles in all of the films produced in Michigan in the past year.

A Stand for Self Defense

As a talent agent, I have the opportunity to work with many different people from different backgrounds, cultures, and individual career aspirations. Through my work with high-profile women such as actors, models, media personalities, and the Miss Michigan USA organization, I have become increasingly aware of the risks and rewards associated with being a highly-visible public figure.

As technology’s beat marches on, it has been unbelievable to witness how new media has begun to facilitate immediate access to individuals, especially through social networks. What really prompted me to think was when I learned of the rush of Facebook friend requests received by the Miss Michigan USA winners after the September pageant. Within hours of the crown ceremony, a ...

Commercials are being produced in Detroit constantly, and they have been for many years; it’s just been under the radar. To put this into perspective, our talent base at The I Group have landed roles in every movie produced in Michigan this year. We also have booked over 17 national commercials and created over 850 other jobs hiring over 1,800 talent. Hopefully this trend will continue as Detroit ...

Making It in Michigan

Detroit, Michigan, my hometown and the automotive capital of the world, supports a flourishing and established media production community of multimillion dollar advertising agencies, production studios, auto shows, industrial producers, actors, and models. Often unnoticed, Michigan’s creative community of dedicated, highly educated and experienced professionals once produced more film footage than Hollywood and drive the media campaigns of one of the world’s essential industries.

However, most of the media buzz this past year is from the high profile film projects that entered Michigan from Tinsel Town. Industry veterans, however, know another side of the film making community here in Michigan…that we’ve been steadily turning out great ...
