The March of Dimes held its 38th ITC Golf Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion. Guests enjoyed breakfast, lunch, cocktails, dinner, and live and silent auctions.
On Aug. 27, the 10th annual Big Wine Classic was held at the Birmingham Country Club. The annual golf, wine, and food event endows the Robert A. Schuele Scholarship Fund, which provides a full-ride, four-year scholarship to a Michigan-based university.
On Aug. 30, 10 semi-finalists in the 2018 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest, presented by Bedrock, gathered at The Madison to compete for $50,000 from Comerica and more than $200,000 in pro bono support from Hatch Detroit and its partners. The winner was Toma Detroit, a Latin America-inspired tequila bar and restaurant slated to open next year in Corktown.
The 39th Annual Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation’s Opening Night VIP Party took place Friday, Aug. 31 at The Qube. More than 400 people attended and enjoyed hors d’oevres, a strolling dinner, and performances by Dr. Valade’s Brass Band, Terri Lyne Carrington and Esperanza Spalding, and the Chick Corea Akoustic Band.
The Detroit Chinese Business Association hosted its 23rd Annual International Golf Open on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the R&S Sharf Golf Course at Oakland University in Rochester Hills. Guests enjoyed lunch, a cocktail reception, and a dinner banquet. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Michigan Asian Youth Enrichment Foundation.

The Garden Party Foundation hosted its 10th annual Garden Party on Sunday, June 10 at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills. The event raised money for vocational programs at Oakland Community College and featured food and wine from nearly 30 Michigan restaurants along with a display of classic cars and live entertainment.
DBusiness magazine hosted its Powered By Women Breakfast Series on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Gem Theatre in downtown Detroit. More than 270 guests enjoyed a strolling breakfast, networking, business exhibits, and a panel discussion by the Powered by Women honorees.
The Champion/Buhl Sport Detroit Partnership Launch Party took place on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at The Factory at Corktown. Guests enjoyed cocktails, light hors d’oeuvres, and a presentation in celebration of Buhl’s partnership in Americas Rallycross and the opening of Buhl Sport’s headquarters.
The 16th Annual Cruisin’ to Drive Out Hunger was hosted Friday, Aug. 17 at Westborn Market in Berkley by Forgotten Harvest. Guests watched the Dream Cruise, and food, cocktails, craft brews, music, a photo booth, dancing, and a silent auction were included. Proceeds benefitted Forgotten Harvest.
The Founders Junior Council and Neiman Marcus hosted the 2018 Fash Bash on Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Guests enjoyed food, a fashion show, cocktails, and The Lincoln Motor Co. Afterglow, which included dancing and drinks. Proceeds from the event benefitted the council’s pledge of $1 million to the DIA’s endowment campaign.
The McLaren Macomb Foundation hosted more than 70 guests for a brunch on Aug. 5 to kick off the annual Clinton Township Gratiot Cruise. Community and business leaders, hospital donors, physicians, and other executive staff attended, and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel led the classic car parade to officially start the cruise.
